School Board Honors Dream Team Scholarship Recipients
Four students from the ECA Dream Team were honored at the School Board meeting on Monday, February 24th! They were recognized as recipients of the Dream Team Honors Scholarships. Congratulations to ECA's winners: Diana, Kevin, MacKenzie, and Lensa!
ECA Students Recognized
Two of our amazing Early College Academy students have been recognized by District 6! Hailee Weeks was honored with the most recent District 6 Student Spotlight. Morrison Webb Shaw was admitted to the Superintendent's Honor Roll by Dr. Pilch on Monday, February 24th, for his Prize Winning entry in the international Desmos contest!
Hailee Weeks: D6 Student Spotlight
"Hailee has consistently been a straight A student throughout her time here at ECA. She was selected as a finalist for the Boettcher scholarship, and she's involved in a JBS internship as she completes her Associates degree. Not only has she handled a college level workload while participating in an intensive internship, she does it all with grace and a positive outlook. Hailee embodies Early College Academy's motto, 'Effort Creates Achievement!'" - Bill Fearn, Principal, ECA
Activities, Clubs, and Sports
I am involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, ECA Navigation Crew, Incite Magazine (treasurer), and Student Health Advisory Council. I have also been a varsity swimmer for the Greeley West High School swim team for 4 years. Additionally, I am part of the JBS Apprenticeship Program as Pilgrim's graphic design apprentice.
Career/College Plans
I will be attending University of Northern Colorado in the fall to pursue a dual degree in graphic design and marketing. For my career goals, I hope to get a full-time position with JBS/Pilgrims to continue my graphic design/marketing path. Eventually, I hope to start my own graphic design business.
Favorite Subject
My favorite subject is the humanities because I really enjoy understanding why people and the world work the way they do. My American History class with Casey Clay was the most fun and educational class I have ever taken.
Favorite Teacher
I technically do not have a favorite, but I do have amazing and meaningful connections with nearly all of my teachers at ECA. I love them all equally. They are all amazing and have helped me so much in achieving my goals.
Hobbies
I really enjoy scrapbooking (both physical and digital), and spend a lot of my time doing it. In my free time, you can always find me at Goodwill because I am an avid thrifter.
Favorite Food and/or Restaurant
I am OBSESSED with Asian food. I think soup dumplings take the number one spot for favorite food and then Tonkotsu ramen after.
Favorite Movie or Television Show
I don't have much time to watch television; however, my favorite movies are Real Genius and The Goonies.
Personal Goals
Traveling has always been a core part of my life, so as I head off to college and beyond, I hope to save up enough money to travel to at least one new place a year. I also collect postcards. My long-term travel-related goal is to cover a wall in my house with postcards.
What Do You Like Best About Your School
I love how many opportunities ECA provides to its students. Without the support from ECA staff and teachers, I would 100 percent not be where I am right now. Since we are such a small school, the staff have personal connections with nearly every students, and for me, having those connections helped me develop as a student and person.
Morrison Webb-Shaw
Early College Academy sophomore Morrison Webb Shaw has placed as a winner in his age category for the international 2024 Desmos Studio Math Art Expo. His Desmos design "The Nebulous Terminus" was chosen along with 20 other students in his age category.
In his entry, Morrison wrote, "For a bit more than a year now, I have been making art in Desmos. I have never been much of an artist, but the medium is just so interesting to me.... [Since last year], I have learned a lot and have adopted a more unique and parametric-based style, which I tried to show in this graph."
The Desmos Math Art Contest is open yearly for applicants to showcase their graphing calculator skills, creativity, and love of math. Tens of thousands of applicants from 22 different countries send in submissions every year.

Senior's Corner
What Should My Senior Be Doing Right Now?
As we move into spring, seniors should be preparing for life after high school! Here’s what they should focus on right now:
- College Applications & Scholarships – Many deadlines are approaching fast! Make sure applications are submitted, and keep applying for scholarships. Every dollar counts!
- FAFSA & Financial Aid – If they haven’t completed the FAFSA yet, now is the time! This is essential for financial aid and some scholarship opportunities.
- Senior Course Completion – Stay on top of classes! Final grades matter for graduation and college admissions.
- Planning for the Next Step – Whether it’s college, trade school, military, or entering the workforce, now is the time to solidify plans, so connect with your advisor if you need support!
Thank you for all you have done to get your senior to where they are now. Continue to encourage your senior to stay focused and finish strong!
Scholarship Award Letters
Seniors, share with us your scholarship award letters! We recognize scholarship awards in your graduation program and want to include and recognize everyone. Please report your scholarships here.

Grade Check Form
Students currently in Seminars have started a new grade check process. Every Monday guardians will receive an email with the current grades of their students and how they will maintain or improve their grades for the week.
